Dr. Jane Shin, MD Dean of Programs
Dr. Shin accepted the position as Dean of Programs at Canadian Health Care Academy in March 2009. Dr. Shin is educated in Genetics and Psychology at University of British Columbia, and received her Medical Doctorate in 2007. She trained at Leeds University, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, University of Sheffield, and Oxford University in England, University of Edinburgh in Scotland, Dalhousie University in Canada, and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in the United States, bringing broad clinical and surgical experience to the Academy.

Dr. Shin's research interests include autonomic dysfunction in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and genetic predisposition in Aplastic Anemia. Her academic focus is on the implementation of new information technologies in health care education and curriculum development for vocational training. Dr. Shin's works have been published in several journals and featured in international conventions.

Before coming onboard the Academy, Dr. Shin acquired a diverse set of skills and insights through her work as a physician, business consultant, facilitator, instructor, clinical investigator, research technologist, and program coordinator at post secondary institutions and non-profit organizations. Dr. Shin founded an online fundraising group which she continues to oversee outside of the Academy.

Well connected in the community for her long term contributions to various societies in the non-profit sector such as Red Cross, World Vision, and Amnesty International, Dr. Shin received several distinguished awards and honours like recognition from City of Surrey and BCTV. Dr. Shin combines 14 years of experience in community service with her entrepreneurial spirit to deliver informative and impactful lectures across North America in different speaking engagements.
