The BCCNM Board met on August 18th and approved a second re-posting of revised, proposed initial bylaws for BCCNM. Those revised, proposed bylaws included provisions having the effect of temporarily continuing CHCA’s practical nursing education program recognition as of September 1, 2020, while providing that CHCA’s programs will be removed from Schedule B of BCCNM’s bylaws effective on Friday, October 16, 2020.

BCCNM’s initial bylaws, as re-posted on August 18th, were given final approval by the BCCNM Board on August 28, 2020 and submitted to the Minister of Health.

On August 31, 2020, the Minister of Health’s delegate approved Ministerial Order 325/2020 specifying a shortened notice period for BCCNM’s initial bylaws under section 19(6.2) of the Health Professions Act.

The Minister of Health did not disallow the amendment to Schedule B of the former BCCNP bylaws that was approved by the former BCCNP Board and filed with the Minister of Health on August 14, 2020, removing CHCA’s practical nursing education programs from the list of recognized practical nursing education programs in that Schedule B.

The BCCNM bylaws temporarily continue CHCA’s program recognition until October 15, 2020; and effective Friday, October 16, 2020, CHCA’s practical nursing education programs will be removed from Schedule B of the BCCNM bylaws, by operation of section 88 of those bylaws, thus completing the withdrawal of CHCA’s program recognition commenced by the former BCCNP Board.
